Trip 9 Days from Casablanca Fez Merzouga desert Dades Gorges Ouarzazate Marrakech
After breakfast we will go to see one of the most famous monuments in Casablanca: the Hassan II Mosque. Then we will travel to Rabat, imperial city and administrative capital of the Kingdom. Visit to the city of Mechouar (with bastions and walls around the Royal Palace), the Kasbah of the Oudayas and the magnificent Mausoleum of Mohammed V and Hassan II. Accommodation in hotel / Riad.
Departure in the morning to visit Meknes: the Medina surrounded by bastions, the Jewish quarter and the ruins of the Roman city of Volubilis. Accommodation in hotel or riad in Fez.
Full day dedicated to visiting Fez, the oldest imperial city in Morocco, founded in the 8th century by Moulay Idriss II. Visit of the Medina, the Attarine Medersas, the Ennajarine Fountain, the Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss II and the Karawiyin Mosque, as well as the new medina of Fez Jdid. Accommodation in hotel / Riad.
We drive towards Fez passing through the Middle Atlas mountains, we see the famous cedar forests since ancient times. Phoenicians and Romans used cedo wood to build ships and boats and to produce handicrafts and essences. We will pass through Ifran, a Swiss-style Moroccan city, and Azrou, a Zayan Berber village typical of the Middle Atlas. Then we will go through the Ziz Valley and Gorges to then reach the city of Erfoud, in the eastern Sahara, where we will follow a rocky path that will take us to Merzouga. Hotel accommodation near the desert dunes.
Day dedicated to discovering the Eastern Sahara. 4×4 jeep tour through the desert: we will visit the nomads, oases and the dunes of Erg Chebbi. We will also go to the village of the Khamlia, a brown-skinned people who will delight us with their original music and popular songs of the Gnawa. Then we will return to our accommodation. We admire the sunset on camelback and spend the night in a Berber tent in the heart of the dunes. A day full of adventure and culture.
We wake up early to go see the spectacular sunrise on the back of a camel, then we return to the hotel to freshen up and have breakfast.
We leave for Rissani and Tafilalet (origin of the Alaouí dynasty), cities located along the road that leads to the monumental Todra Gorges, with views of the valley from the hill. We advance in the deep Valley of the Roses, famous for the cultivation of these flowers. We admire the mountains and their colors, the palm groves, the fields of sweet corn and the fig trees, as well as the ruins of numerous kasbahs that are part of the itinerary called the Route of the Thousand Kasbahs. We arrive in Ouarzazate in the late afternoon and stay in a riad.
From Ouarzazate we will go to the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, Mother of all Kasbahs, a beautiful Berber architectural structure from about 800 years ago. From the hill at the foot of which the settlement stands, you can see the old caravan routes that traveled to Marrakech and the distant veins of the High Atlas Mountains. Visit of the ruins that reveal the ancient culture of the inhabitants of this kasbah.
We will continue along a dirt road rising for more than 8 km until we return to the main road that leads to Marrakech. We will pass through the Valley of the Almond Trees, the Berber Shluh of Amerzgan, Agouim and Ighrem and we will arrive at the Tizi N’Tichka pass (2260 m a.s.l.). Lunch in the Berber village of Tadart, then we continue to Marrakech where we will arrive at the end of the afternoon.
After breakfast a guide will accompany the group to visit Marrakech, the pearl of southern Morocco. The Bahia and El Badi Palaces, the Saadian Tombs, the Menara reservoir and many other hidden treasures will be visited.
Lunch in one of the best traditional restaurants in Marrakech. Then tour to the magnificent Koutoubia Mosque and the famous Djemaa el Fna market square, well worth a visit, being one of the main attractions of Marrakech, full of life at night with local storytellers, snake charmers and… roasts that they make your mouth water.
Transfer to Casablanca at the agreed time, and end of our services.
