Excursion 8 Days from Casablanca through Morocco via Fez Desert Merzouga Marrakech

Pick up at Casablanca airport. Visit to the Hassan II Mosque. Departure to Rabat. Visit of the city of Rabat and the monuments: Alcazaba de los Oudaias, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V and the Hassan Tower. Dinner and hotel accommodation.

On the way to Meknés, we border the Mamora forest.
Arrival in Meknés, a city that reached its apogee thanks to Sultan Mulay Ismail. 27 km from Meknés are the ruins of the Roman city of Volubilis, and the holy city of Moulay Idriss is also visited. Continuation to Fez. Dinner and accommodation in Riyadh.

Free day in FEZ. Entering the streets of its medina (old city) we will feel that time goes back: the guild structure is still present at work, the narrowness of its streets does not allow any other means of transport than donkeys and a constant swarm of people moves through the labyrinthine alleys in the middle of which we will be surprised by neighborhoods such as the Andalusian one and magnificent mosques and Koranic schools.
Fez has always been associated with study and religiosity, and continues to be the spiritual capital of Morocco.
After visiting the medina, another option is to walk aimlessly through the streets of Fez-Jdid, where the royal palace, the mellah (Jewish quarter) and the oldest mosque in Fez are located. Dinner and accommodation according to selected hotel category. ( Fes visit )

After breakfast, departure to Midelt passing through the mountains and cedar forests of the Middle Atlas. I pass through Ifrane, a charming ski resort, and Azrou, an important craft center specializing in cedar woodworking.
After the Zad pass (2178m/7146ft), we will arrive in Midelt for lunch. In the afternoon, we will descend towards Erfoud and Errachidia through the Ziz Valley, dotted with palm trees. Continuation to the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi.
In the afternoon we will leave the 4×4 and we will take the camels to cross the great dunes of the desert for about two hours. Night in the heart of the desert in nomadic tents (jaimas) enjoying the stars, the moon, the sunset, the sunrise….Dinner and accommodation in tents (an unforgettable night).

In the morning we will return to the hotel by dromedary to have breakfast and take a comforting shower.
Visit to Khamlia, a village originally from Mali, where we can relax with tea while enjoying a small Gnawa music concert. We will then take a short tour of the Erg Chebbi dunes in a 4×4, an extension of the sand desert where the Great Dune of Morocco is located, over 250 meters high, connecting by track with part of the route followed by the old Paris-Dakar and with the mountains that border Algeria in the background.
We will make a stop at a panoramic point where we can contemplate the Erg Chebbi as a whole. We will then go to Rissani, the first imperial city, with its interesting market, where nomads from the surrounding area come to sell their cattle and buy the goods they need.
There you can taste if you fancy the tasty Berber pizza (it is only cooked here) and we will continue our way to Ouarzazate through the Draa Valley, one of the longest rivers in Morocco. Stops to contemplate the charming adobe kasbahs and Berber villages that dot the route and the interesting geological formations of the Draa Valley. Dinner and night in Ouarzazate.

Breakfast and visit to the famous Ait Ben Haddou (Cultural Heritage of Humanity). The journey is a succession of strengths. Today’s session is another one of them. The 200 km that separate Ouarzazate from Marrakech run through the High Atlas. The road must be traveled slowly, due to its beauty and because it is a mountain pass that crosses the Atlas at almost 2,300 m.
To round off the spectacular nature of the day, we will follow the old caravan route that linked the two cities through the Ounila Valley, where there are kasbahs built in caves and which will also take us to Telouet.
And we continue to the red city of Marrakech. Dinner and accommodation according to selected hotel category.

Free day in Marrakech, a city famous for its Jemaa el Fna square, which will occupy much of our time: an unrepeatable amalgam of aromas, sounds and sensations.
The city also has endless places to wander and enjoy: the Majorelle Gardens, the Menara, the Saadian Tombs, walks through the medina or through the mellah (the old Jewish quarter), the tour of the walls and the modern city (Gueliz) with its western ways of life. Accommodation in a hotel according to the selected hotel category. Visit of Marrakesh
